What is Month of Caring?
Each September, Mountain America provides paid volunteer time for team members to go out and support causes they care about across their communities. This year, team members dedicated more than 3,500 volunteer hours to hands-on service projects that addressed local needs, supported community partners and helped strengthen neighborhoods across Mountain America’s footprint.

Since Month of Caring launched in 2019, Mountain America team members have contributed more than 29,000 volunteer hours serving local organizations across the West.

How did team members support local communities?
Mountain America team members supported a variety of community-focused projects throughout September, including:

  • Assembling more than 3,000 literacy and math kits for third graders.
  • Planting hundreds of tulip bulbs for Thanksgiving Point’s 2027 Tulip Festival.
  • Laying more than 8,000 square feet of sod at Utah’s Hogle Zoo.
  • Rehabilitating a Habitat for Humanity home.
  • Filling 596 backpacks with food for children in need.

The volunteer effort reflects Mountain America’s broader commitment to strengthening the communities it serves through charitable partnerships, financial education programs, scholarships and year-round volunteer service.

What happens after Month of Caring?
While Month of Caring takes place each September, team members can use their allotted volunteer service hours throughout the year, allowing them to stay involved with organizations and causes that matter most in their local communities.
